Since the Avengers comic book first debuted almost 50 years ago, this movie has been begging producers to make it. Take the best of the Marvel universe and throw them together haphazardly to fight as a team against the invading armies of a Demigod. Greaaat… This sounds plausible!</sarcasim> The good news is that this still takes place in the same universe that we’ve been introduced to in the origin movies for the characters. That being said, such things like portals opening to another dimension, or rocket powered hover suits are not such a stretch for the mind. Hit the jump for the full review of Marvel’s The Avengers

Happy StarWars Day; Correct Viewing Order of the Saga.

Today is StarWars day, and therefore I am obligated to say: “May the fourth be with you!”
Recently we received word of an article that suggests a new viewing order of the Star-Wars saga. Now before you jump in and start talking like there is only one correct answer, check out the reasons why the author suggests the order he does in the link below. Day 2 – Scary Saturday

I had a feeling that Day two of the Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo (CCEE), was going to be a gong show since it was the busiest day with all the celebrities scheduled to attend for photo ops, meet greets, and panels, but what I didn’t expect was the ridiculous amount of people who were attending that day. So much was going on that day that led to the messy situation of over sold tickets and many disappointed fans. Stan Lee was to make an appearance and also the reunion of Star Trek: The Next Generation cast who haven’t been reunited at a single event since the series was airing 25 years ago. Read on…

Calgary Comic Expo was held last weekend on April 27 to April 29, a three day event which started off manageable on the first night but turned a bit ugly over the weekend. I’m going to try and break it down to three parts just so I can give you the 411 on the panels, costumes, and artists I got to meet.

Kataku is one of those sites that I frequent on the internet. That being said, I noticed that they just posted an article about how one of the lead writers for their blog has recently discovered boardgames. Welcome to the fold! It pointed out some really great points about why video games are becoming a second rate form of entertainment. We recently tried out Resistance and found it very difficult to win, but maybe that’s because my girlfriend was a spy… deceptive little minx! Anyway check out the article if you still need some convincing that your time is better spent with friends around a table, then around a final boss online.

Movie Review: The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games takes place in a nation known as Panem after a great civil war, which consists of a wealthy Capitol and twelve surrounding districts. Annually, as not to forget the great loss of life sustained during the war, one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 from each district are selected by annual lottery. They participate in the Hunger Games, an event in which the participants (or “tributes”) must fight in an outdoor arena controlled by the Capitol, until only one remains alive. The movie follows 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen, a girl from District 12 who volunteers for the 74th annual Hunger Games in place of her younger sister. TableTop. New WebSeries Worth Watching!

Not only is this web series funny and entertaining, it also appears to be informational! Have you ever had trouble explaining a complex boardgame’s rules to a friend? Maybe you should just load up the episode of TableTop, staring Wil Wheaton, to show them how it’s played. This is the first episode in the series, with posts scheduled every 2 weeks. I look forward to seeing what they have to offer. Sidebar: Day-9 is hilarious in this.
